Question24
24. We are building a block of flats and want to use a
timber suspended floor that meets the required sound insulation
level. Which of your products would you recommend?
To meet the sound requirements of Part E of Building
Regulations you would need to build a Type 3 separating floor. This
requires a timber joisted floor with a floating platform on 25mm of
Rocksilk Acoustic Floor Slab. An independent timber joisted ceiling
is also required with 100mm of Crown Acoustic Joist Roll between
the joists, the joists should be fixed only to the surrounding
walls and there should be a clearance of at least 100mm between the
top of the ceiling joists and the underside of the base floor. The
ceiling should have at least two layers of plasterboard with
staggered joints and a minimum mass of 20.00kg/m2. Post
Construction testing is required when adopting this form of
construction.
