Knauf Insulation and Part L 2010

Please note, the below information relates only to England and Wales. For details on Section 6 Energy - Domestic - 2010 (Scotland) click here. UPDATE: The new Section 6 Guide is now available for download.

The new version of Approved Document L 2010 came into effect on October 1st 2010 and imposes ever more stringent thermal performance on new and existing buildings of all descriptions, both residential and non residential.

Compliance with Part L 2010 for new buildings can only be shown after carrying out whole building energy performance calculations. This can be done using approved software programs incorporating the appropriate methodology, i.e. the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) for new dwellings and the Simplified Building Energy Model (SBEM) for non residential buildings.
