Delivered in partnership between South Yorkshire Housing Association (SYHA) and Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, the area has seen construction of 54 new homes, featuring the best in insulation and energy-saving technologies.

It forms part of the council's ongoing Green Corridor plan and has seen the delivery of new three and four-bedroom homes that were designed by architects from SYHA.

Martin Powell, SYHA project manager, noted: "Not only do these two developments help to satisfy housing need in Barnsley, they also demonstrates how partnership working can tap into a range of funding streams for the benefit of the local community."

Meanwhile, homeowners in Lutterworth are set to benefit from a new initiative that will highlight areas where their insulation could be improved.

A collaboration between local authorities and the Rural Community Council will see thermal imaging being used to give local residents a better idea of their levels of energy efficiency.
