Barnsley benefits from new energy-efficient properties
22 December 2011

Two new
developments have taken place in Barnsley with a focus on providing
energy-efficient
homes to local residents.
Delivered in partnership between South Yorkshire Housing
Association (SYHA) and Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, the
area has seen construction of 54 new homes, featuring the best in
insulation and energy-saving technologies.
It forms part of the council's ongoing Green Corridor plan and has
seen the delivery of new three and four-bedroom homes that were
designed by architects from SYHA.
Martin Powell, SYHA project manager, noted: "Not only do these two
developments help to satisfy housing need in Barnsley, they also
demonstrates how partnership working can tap into a range of
funding streams for the benefit of the local community."
Meanwhile, homeowners in Lutterworth are set to benefit from a new
initiative that will highlight areas where their insulation could
be improved.
A collaboration between local authorities and the Rural Community
Council will see thermal imaging being used to give local residents
a better idea of their levels of energy efficiency.
Knauf Insulation provides sustainable insulation solutions for loft
insulation, cavity wall insulation and solid wall
insulation.
