Clear strategy needed 'to create confidence in Green Deal'
24 January 2012

The Royal
Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics) has called on the
government to deliver a clear strategy to highlight how the new
Green
Deal will be implemented.
According to the organisation, there remain too many areas where
the process of making energy efficiency improvements under the new
flagship scheme is vague and this is not inspiring confidence among
businesses and the public.
Indeed, it remains unclear how the government intends to encourage
take-up of the scheme, especially among small businesses.
It would be expected to drive consumer uptake across the country,
but this lack of information means confidence in the project
remains low.
Yesterday, Daniel Green, chief executive officer at HomeSun,
commented that many people remain unconvinced over the economic
sense of taking on debt to save energy when they will not see a
return until many years in n the future.
He argued: "The government has got to realise that ... it is
complicated and that the public are not going to just swarm towards
it."
