Eastham church improves energy efficiency
15 December 2011

St David's United
Reformed Church in Eastham has undergone a £40,000 refurbishment
programme, which has seen the building fitted with additional
cavity wall and
roof
insulation, as well as a new boiler.
The removal of the premise's 1950s boiler was one of the top
priorities for the church, as this has significantly improved
energy efficiency for the heating of the building, while the extra
insulation is helping to keep the local congregation warmer than
ever.
"It is our hope that all groups using our premises ... will now be
able to meet in greater comfort," church secretary Sheila Pugh told
Wirral News.
Funding for the project was delivered by the All-churches Trust, as
well as the Veolia Environmental Trust and the Landfill Communities
Fund.
Meanwhile, Mike Crompton, corporate communications officer for the
Institute of Domestic Energy Assessors, recently argued the best
way to prepare for winter is to add insulation to a property, as
this will save on energy use and help to cut bills.
