Events benefit potential construction workers
01 December 2008

People
looking to get into the construction industry have benefitted from
a successful series of events in Halesowen, reports the Halesowen
News.
Dudley Council's Future Skills Programme was heavily influential in
the events, teaming up with a number of organisations to provide
budding construction workers with careers advice and skills.
Women were given advice on how to boost their chances of breaking
into the construction industry, while attendees were also able to
gain from watching trade demonstrations.
Councillor Malcolm Knowles, cabinet member for regeneration, said:
"Events like this are about helping people along the construction
career path and show them some of the many benefits of that.
"It was wonderful to see so many people, including children from
local schools, taking part in an event like this."
Among the aims of the Future Skills project include getting those
who are aged over 18 and unemployed into training and potential
workforces.
Meanwhile, those looking for construction jobs in the north west
recently found it a lot easier to view the jobs on offer thanks to
a new database being piloted in the area.
