Free insulation offered to Somerset residents
08 February 2010

Free
insulation is to be made available to thousands more people in
Somerset, it has been reported.
Loft and cavity wall insulation will be offered for free to anyone
over the age of 60 or anyone living with children under 16, the
Western Mercury reports.
The grants have been made available thanks to changes in
eligibility criteria to the Warm Streets campaign.
Other people who do not fit these criteria could still be eligible
for an insulation grant, the paper notes.
Installing insulation could help Somerset householders reduce their
carbon emissions.
As well as being environmentally friendly, insulation could also
save them money.
According to the Energy Saving Trust, the average household can
save around £115 on their heating bills each year by installing
cavity wall insulation.
