Insulation grant to keep homes warm
06 November 2008

Insulation
is a central part of a campaign to keep people warm in their
houses.
The Devon Warm Zones campaign is to offer grants to residents in
designated areas to pay for
home insulation and heating.
Under the scheme, each council appoints an area which it feels is
in need of extra resources as a Warm Zone.
That area is then targeted, with leaflets handed out and
campaigners going door to door.
As well as the money to install
home insulation, the project offers residents free
advice.
Housing and health cabinet member councillor Andrea Davis told
Devon24: "If you know anyone who you think would benefit from this
project please urge them get in touch, particularly those who are
vulnerable to the cold such as older people, young families or
those on low incomes."
Earlier this year Gordon Brown announced almost £1 billion in
grants to help people install
home insulation.
The initiative ensures free or half price insulation for all
households that need to install it.
