Insulation programme confirmed in Scotland
04 February 2010

A scheme designed to improve overall levels of insulation in
Scottish homes has been confirmed by the country's government in
the latest Budget.
The finance secretary John Swinney confirmed a £10 million fund for
improvements to home insulation levels across the country.
Entitled the Home Insulation Scheme, the project is area-based and
follows plans outlined in the Pre-Budget Report of December
2009.
Such a scheme will allow the Scottish government to offer support
for insulation projects in some 90,000 homes across Scotland over
2010 and 2011.
Besides the home insulation project, this week's Budget also
offered a number of other green initiatives, including support of
boiler scrappage in Scotland.
Announcing the Budget, Mr Swinney said the government has listed to
the views of parliament in formulating proposals for the coming
year.
"I am presenting to parliament a budget that meets the needs of the
people of Scotland, addressing the economic and financial
challenges we face and supporting our frontline services," he
said.
