New scheme offers free home insulation

Pensioners
aged over 70 and those on particular benefits could benefit from
reduced household energy bills following the launch of a new
scheme.
Inverclyde Council has launched the Local Energy Savings Scheme
(LESS) which will provide certain people with free
cavity wall insulation and free
loft insulation.
Private tenants and other owner-occupiers could be granted the
home insulation work at a reduced cost through
the scheme, while all homes will receive a free home energy report
that will offer advice on how to boost a household's energy
performance.
Councillor Gerry Dorrian, vice-convener of Inverclyde Council's
safe, sustainable communities committee, said: "The scheme is great
news for Inverclyde residents as it will ensure that free
information and advice about energy efficiency in the home is
available to all.
"Inverclyde Council is committed to tackling fuel poverty, soaring
energy costs and reducing emissions."
An energy expert recently stated that more people will look towards
energy efficiency measures, such as
loft insulation, to battle against rising energy
prices.
