Notts elderly 'to benefit from insulation initiative'
09 January 2012

Older people living
in Nottinghamshire are set to be offered
insulation and energy
efficiency improvements to their homes under the government's new
Warm Homes Healthy People Fund.
Announced last week, the scheme is receiving £20 million in funding
from the Department of Health, with the money being split between
local authorities across the country in a bid to ensure all
vulnerable people are supported over the colder winter
months.
A total of £243,000 has been allocated to Nottinghamshire residents
and it will be used over the coming weeks to provide important
improvements to the homes of elderly people in the region, the
Eastwood Advertiser reports.
These home updates will include the installation of temperature
sensors to alert central heating teams when the homes of old people
are becoming too cold, as well as insulation checks, radiator
bleeding, electric blanket safety checks and much more.
In addition to old people, those who suffer from disabilities are
also eligible for aid under the fund's guidelines.
