PEPA urges Green Deal rethink
20 January 2012

The
Property and Energy Professionals Association (PEPA) has called on
the government to reconsider its plans for the full introduction of
the
Green
Deal in October this year.
According to the organisation, current plans relating to
non-domestic properties remain unclear and therefore it would be
foolhardy to push ahead with a launch when many members of the
property sector do not understand the ground rules.
"With such a pivotal new framework, it is imperative that the
government gets it right from the offset," commented PEPA chairman
Stephen O'Hara.
He added that more time is needed to address concerns of the
industry prior to the launch of the initiative.
The news follows a statement by the Federation of Master Builders
earlier this week, which claimed the Green Deal could be "heading
for failure" if greater fiscal incentives for homeowners are not
introduced to make energy-efficiency upgrades more attractive under
the scheme.
