Solar panels 'are an eco-friendly option for homeowners'
02 February 2010

Homeowners
looking to make eco-friendly changes to their properties can now
consider solar panels a realistic possibility, it has been
suggested.
Andrew Moore, managing director of British Eco Energy, said they
are a good option for people who want to become greener and they
can also prove a good financial investment.
This is because it is possible to get an income from solar panels,
as well as reducing electricity bills.
Another way in which people can save money and reduce their energy
bills is by installing insulation.
Grants are available to make installing loft and cavity wall
insulation affordable.
It can also save homeowners hundreds of pounds on their energy
bills every year so the cost is quickly recuperated.
The government has announced that small scale low carbon
electricity feed-in tariffs are to be introduced in April this
year.
This means that those who produce power from solar panels could
earn up to £900.
"This announcement takes renewables from being a niche market for
very green people or very wealthy people, to something that most
people can do," Mr Moore commented. "It's very exciting."
