Subsidy+cuts+'could+see+90+per+cent+decline+in+insulated+properties'The number of UK households which could get help from the government for insulation projects could drop by 90 per cent in the next year, it has been claimed.

Labour has suggested that a total of 19,142 properties will see the benefit of government subsidy schemes in 2011 to 2012, which is around 91 per cent less that the previous year, the Press Association reports.

Shadow energy secretary Caroline Flint said that according to these current trends, many homeowners could be left without aid from official bodies.

Ms Flint added: "This government is so out of touch that when families are facing record energy bills and a bitter winter, it has cut help for people trying to do the right thing and make their homes more energy efficient."

She continued that the most effective way for property owners to cut their energy bills is to invest in eco-friendly solutions.

A spokesperson from the Department  of Energy and Climate Change commented that there will be fewer installations as a result of a reduced budget for insulation means.

This follows the news that the High Court deemed the cut in solar panel feed-in tariffs as "legally flawed" at a recent hearing.
