'The time could be right' for green commercial property improvements
20 February 2012

Commercial property
owners across the UK should be considering making sustainable
upgrades to their stock whenever they can in order to avoid falling
foul of new government guidelines, it has been argued.
Ian Fletcher, director of policy for real estate at the British
Property Federation, said the fact much commercial property is not
now being let means this could be the perfect opportunity for
owners to carry out works, such as improving
insulation, ahead of
impending energy-efficiency deadlines.
He commented: "2018 might sound like a long way off but, in terms
of [...] ensuring that businesses are using the best opportunities
to do works, it is something that they need to start thinking about
now."
According to research carried out by DTZ, 40 per cent of commercial
buildings in the UK could be in danger of failing tough new
government energy standards.
The report noted new standards could significantly impact the
future value of these buildings, unless improvements are made to
increase energy efficiency.
Knauf Insulation provides sustainable insulation solutions for loft
insulation, cavity wall insulation and solid wall
insulation.
