Insulation feature of newly opened Eco House
30 September 2008

Thermal
and acoustic insulation and gauges which showed the effect of each,
were among the features that most interested tenants'
representatives when they got a sneak peak of an eco-home now open
to the public.
The reps caught a glimpse of the Eco House in Plumstead on June 5,
but the house is now open to the public, though an appointment is
needed.
A kitchen work surface which featured three flaps through which
compostable waste, dry mixed recycling and black sack rubbish were
disposed of impressed the people during a preview.
Councillor Rajwant Sidhu, Greenwich Council's cabinet member for
Greener Greenwich, told the News Shopper: "Adopting some of the
features you see there will help to reduce your carbon footprint
and will also help to reduce your fuel bills."
The house will host open days on October 9, October 12, October 16,
October 23 and October 30.
According to Greenwich council, 33 per cent of heat in a home is
lost through walls, and 25 per cent can escape through the
roof.
