Insulation 'probably best' energy efficiency measure
06 October 2008

Installing
cavity wall insulation in a home is probably the
best thing consumers can do to reduce their energy bills, according
to a non-profit group leading the way against climate change.
Cavity wall insulation and
loft insulation help reduce heat leakage,
thereby cutting the amount of fuel needed to heat a home and
cutting bills in the most efficient way.
According to the Climate Group's David Hall, who directs the
Together initiative, insulation is the measure that will most cut
costs and carbon emissions.
He said: "Insulation probably stands out as the single biggest
thing people can do to cut their energy bills and carbon footprint.
Companies also spend large amounts of money tracking consumer
behaviour and will obviously follow the 'green pound'."
However, despite the prospect of saving on energy bills, consumers
seem unwilling of paying to boost their environmental performance,
particularly given the credit crisis, he said.
"Research shows people want companies and politicians to make it
easier and more affordable for them to do the right thing on
climate change," he added.
