Landlords should install cavity wall insulation
09 October 2008

Energy
efficiency expert Mike Malina has noted that with the introduction
of Energy Performance Certificates, landlords should make sure they
are improving a home's energy efficiency.
He noted that wall insulation is better at keeping in heat than
getting double glazing.
"There is a myth about this; it's a cosmetic thing. If your windows
are in drastic need of replacement then fine, you should invest in
it," he said.
"But to go out and change your windows if they're sound is not a
good idea because there are a lot of better things you can do first
that you can get a much better financial return on."
According to Landlordsexpert.co.uk, Mr Malina also said that
landlords should consider draft stripping and thermostatic radio
valves for radiators.

almost twice as much as the average new build house.
