Look for insulation in holiday home
30 September 2008

Insulation is
one of the features people looking to invest in holiday lodges
should look for, according to an industry insider.
Holiday lodges are an alternative to second homes, according to
Phil & Frances Counsell, holiday lodge developers, though they
warn would-be owners to check the details on their prospective
buys.
A good level of insulation is one of the details they mention as
being important to check.
Insulation is not only a luxury that keeps a home toasty in winter,
but also helps bring down the cost of thermally regulating a
home.
In winter a well insulated home needs to burn less gas to stay
warm, while in the summer less air-conditioning is needed to cool
it down.
Other things to look out for, said the developers, are location,
the cost of maintaining the holiday home and issues such as
privacy, views and optimal light.
Insulation is not just a holiday home idea though, the Energy
Saving Trust recommends installing insulation as one of the easiest
ways to improve a home's energy efficiency.
