Earthwool RainScreen Slab BGV is used for the thermal insulation of rainscreen cladding systems. Earthwool RainScreen Slab BGV is lightweight but rigid enough to resist the compression forces generated when fixing the insulation slabs to the buildings substrate. The water repellent additive in Earthwool RainScreen Slab BGV provides a further line of defence against rain penetration.

Earthwool RainScreen Slab presents no known threat to the environment and has zero Ozone Depletion Potential and zero Global Warming Potential. Earthwool RainScreen Slab BGV has a generic BRE Green Guide rating of A+. Earthwool RainScreen Slab BGV is covered by Environmental Product Declaration BREG EN EPD No. 000096, ECO EPD Ref. No.: 000325 in accordance with the requirements of EN 15804.

Durability

Earthwool RainScreen Slab BGV is odourless, rot proof, non-hygroscopic, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria.

Vapour resistivity

Earthwool RainScreen Slab BGV offers negligible resistance to the passage of water vapour, the rock mineral wool element has a water vapour resistivity of 5.0 MNs/g.m., the black glass veil 200 MNs/g.m.

Thermal performance

The U-value of a proprietary rainscreen cladding system is dependent on the degree of thermal bridging in the system. Calculations should be created using 2 or 3 dimensional modelling programs which comply with the methodologies detailed in BS EN ISO 10211. Knauf Insulation offer 3D numerically modelled U-value calculations compliant with ISO 10211 under the BBA/TIMSA U-value and Condensation Risk Analysis Competence Scheme.

Handling and storage

Earthwool RainScreen Slab BGV is easy to handle and install, being lightweight and easily cut to size, where necessary. Earthwool RainScreen Slab BGV is supplied in polythene packs which are designed for short term protection only. For longer term protection on site, the product should either be stored indoors, or under cover and off the ground. Earthwool RainScreen Slab BGV should not be left permanently exposed to the elements.
