For the thermal and acoustic insulation of external and separating walls in timber frame and ‘warm roof’ construction

Thermal

FrameTherm Slab comes in three thermal conductivities - 0.032, 0.035 and 0.038 W/mK.

Fire

FrameTherm Slab is classified as Euroclass A1 to BS EN 13501-1.

Acoustics

FrameTherm Slab has excellent sound absorption characteristics.

Description

FrameTherm Slab consists of a resilient, unfaced, non-combustible glass mineral wool slab.

Application

FrameTherm Slab is for the thermal insulation of external walls and warm roofs in timber frame construction. FrameTherm Slab is friction fitted between studs and rafters and are 570mm wide to suit commonly used stud and rafter spacings.

FrameTherm Slab can also be used for acoustic insulation in timber framed separating walls. 

Environmental

FrameTherm Slab is free from CFCs, HCFCs and any other material with ozone depletion potential in their manufacture and content and represents no known threat to the environment.

FrameTherm Slab’s manufacture has a low impact on the environment and is classified as Zero ODP and Zero GWP.

ECOSE® Technology

Knauf Insulation mineral wool products with ECOSE® Technology benefit from a no added formaldehyde binder, which is up to 70% less energy intensive than traditional binders and is made from rapidly renewable bio-based materials instead of petroleum-based chemicals.

The technology has been developed for Knauf Insulation’s glass and rock mineral wool products, enhancing their environmental credentials without affecting the thermal, acoustic or fire performance. Insulation products made with ECOSE Technology contain no dye or artificial colours.

Standards

Earthwool FrameTherm Slabs are manufactured in accordance with BS EN 13162, ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems, OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, as certified by Bureau Veritas.

Durability

FrameTherm Slab is rot proof, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria. FrameTherm Slab is odourless and non-hygroscopic.

Vapour resistance - resistivity

FrameTherm Slab allows water vapour to pass freely through the insulation, therefore allowing the construction element to breathe.

Handling and storage

FrameTherm Slab is easy to handle and install, being lightweight and easily cut to size.

It is supplied in polythene packs which are designed for short term protection only. For longer term protection on site, the product should either be stored indoors, or under cover and off the ground. Installation instructions are on every pack.

FrameTherm Slab should not be left permanently exposed to the elements.
