Earthwool Acoustic Floor Slab and Earthwool Acoustic Floor Slab Plus are classified as Euroclass A1 to BS EN 13501-1.

Description

Earthwool Acoustic Floor Slab is a dense rock mineral wool slab for the acoustic insulation of separating floors. Earthwool Acoustic Floor Slab Plus is an extra high dense rock mineral wool slab specifically designed to meet the requirements of a floating floor treatment for use in Robust Detail separating floors.

Application

Earthwool Acoustic Floor Slab is designed for use as a resilient layer in the acoustic insulation of separating floors and meets the requirement in Approved Document E (England and Wales) for a resilient layer under a floating platform - mineral wool, 25mm thick, nominal density between 60 and 100 kg/m3. Earthwool Acoustic Floor Slab Plus is designed for use as the resilient layer in a Floating Floor Treatment (FFT) and meets the specification requirements in accordance with Robust Details Ltd.

Environmental

Earthwool Acoustic Floor Slab and Earthwool Acoustic Floor Slab Plus represent no known threat to the environment and have zero Ozone Depletion Potential and zero Global Warming Potential.

ECOSE® Technology

Knauf Insulation mineral wool products with ECOSE® Technology benefit from a no added formaldehyde binder, which is up to 70% less energy intensive than traditional binders and is made from rapidly renewable bio-based materials instead of petroleum-based chemicals.

The technology has been developed for Knauf Insulation’s glass and rock mineral wool products, enhancing their environmental credentials without affecting the thermal, acoustic or fire performance. Insulation products made with ECOSE Technology contain no dye or artificial colours.

Standards

Earthwool Acoustic Floor Slab and Earthwool Acoustic Floor Slab Plus are manufactured in accordance with BS EN 13162, BS EN ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems, OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, as certified by Bureau Veritas.

Durability

Earthwool Acoustic Floor Slab and Earthwool Acoustic Floor Slab Plus are odourless, rot proof, non-hygroscopic, do not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria. Earthwool Acoustic Floor Slabs are non-wicking when tested in accordance with BS 2972:1989 Section 12.

Handling and storage

Earthwool Acoustic Floor Slab and Earthwool Acoustic Floor Slab Plus are easy to handle and install, being lightweight and easily cut to size, where necessary. They are supplied in polythene packs which are designed for short term protection only. For longer term protection on site, the product should either be stored indoors, or under cover and off the ground. Earthwool Acoustic Floor Slab and Earthwool Acoustic Floor Slab Plus should not be left permanently exposed to the elements.
