Earthwool RainScreen Slab is used for the thermal insulation of rainscreen cladding systems. Earthwool RainScreen Slab is lightweight but rigid enough to resist the compression forces generated when fixing the insulation slabs to the buildings substrate. The water repellent additive in Earthwool RainScreen Slab provides a further line of defence against rain penetration.

Earthwool RainScreen Slab represents no known threat to the environment and has zero Ozone Depletion Potential and zero Global Warming Potential. Earthwool RainScreen Slab has a generic BRE Green Guide rating of A+. Earthwool RainScreen Slab is covered by Environmental Product Declaration BREG EN EPD No. 000096, ECO EPD Ref. No.: 000325 in accordance with the requirements of EN 15804.

Standards

Earthwool RainScreen Slab is manufactured in accordance with BS EN 13162, EN 16001 Energy Management Systems, OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, as certified by Bureau Veritas.

Durability

Earthwool RainScreen Slab is odourless, rot proof, non hygroscopic, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria.

Vapour resistivity

Earthwool RainScreen Slab offers negligible resistance to the passage of water vapour andn has a water vapour resistivity of 5.00MNs/g.m.

Thermal performance

The U-value of a proprietary rainscreen cladding system is dependent on the degree of thermal bridging in the system. Typically 100mm of Earthwool RainScreen Slab will achieve a U-value of 0.35W/m2K, but Knauf Insulation recommend consulting individual rainscreen cladding manufacturers for U-values appropriate to their systems.

Handling and storage

Earthwool RainScreen Slab is easy to handle and install, being lightweight and easily cut to size, where necessary. Earthwool RainScreen Slab is supplied in polythene packs which are designed for short term protection only. For longer term protection on site, the product should either be stored indoors, or under cover and off the ground. Earthwool RainScreen Slab should not be left permanently exposed to the elements
