Jean-Claude Carlin has marked his first hundred days as Knauf Insulation’s new Group CEO with a commitment to increased production investment in Europe and North America.
Since starting his new role in February, Mr Carlin has been on a global fact-finding mission to visit the company’s key plants holding personal meetings with customers and employees at each location.
Mr Carlin said: “The first few months of the year proved to be highly promising for the industry and in good times it is vital that we focus on doing an even better job of providing the best possible service and quality for our customers. That is why we are planning on maximising our global footprint through investing in improvements and increasing our production capacity across the globe.”
Production investments include:
- Our Visé plant in Belgium — new home of our global headquarters and one of our most strategic locations which supports important European markets — will restart its second line by the end of the year as well as adding new capacity to meet increasing demand for Blowing Wool.
- A major upgrade to our line in St Egidien in Germany is underway using state of the art Knauf Insulation developed technology, as part of our commitment to upgrade all our Rock Mineral Wool production facilities. This follows major improvements to our line in Nova Bana in Slovakia and Skofja Loka, Slovenia in 2014 and 2015. Another major upgrade is planned in Europe next year.
- In North America we are restarting our second line at our Inwood plant in West Virginia to support growing residential demand in the North East and to provide a balanced footprint across the entire country.
Mr Carlin added: “While visiting our plants around the world, I have been very impressed by our production teams. They consistently combine local market insight and effortless international cooperation to create solutions for our customers. Our success is a tribute to their commitment to our customers and to continuous improvement.”
