ECOSE® TECHNOLOGY RECOGNISED BY THE SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS
Knauf Insulation is delighted to announce its
innovative manufacturing process, ECOSE® Technology, has
been shortlisted for the ‘Sustainable Innovation of the Year’ at
the 2010 Sustainability Awards.
The prestigious awards received a record number of entries this
year, making the judges job exceptionally tough, with only the
highest quality entries making it through to the
shortlist.
ECOSE® Technology is a revolutionary,
bio-based binder made from rapidly renewable resources, which
substitutes traditional petro-based binders
and is up to 70% less energy intensive than traditional
binders. In addition, the patented ECOSE®
Technology produces a ‘super-soft’ and easier to handle wool, with
many installers not actually believing the product to be
glasswool.
Combined with the brown colour and softer feel,
ECOSE® Technology offers the same reliable thermal and
acoustic performance that designers, contractors and installers
expect from mineral wool.
James Edwards, Sustainability Manager for Knauf Insulation
comments, “ECOSE® Technology really is a step change in
insulation and it’s a real honour that this has been recognised by
the Sustainability Awards. It is testimony to the five years
of extensive research and is a very important step on Knauf
Insulation’s sustainability journey.”
All shortlisted entries will be showcased at the Building
Centre, home of the UKGBC, from the 19th October onwards, with
visitors being able to view detailed storyboards of each
entry. All winning entries will be placed in a dedicated
winners’ gallery in the Café Gallery from Wednesday 1st December
until the end of the year.
