ECOSE Technology at Plan Expo - 11.12.09
Mineral wool with ECOSE® Technology will
feature heavily at this year’s Plan Expo Exhibition, with Knauf
Insulation set to push its wide range of products all incorporating
the revolutionary process, that further strengthens the
environmental credentials of glass and rock mineral wool
insulation.
A selection of products will be on display on
stand H2, including Room-in-Roof Roll, DriTherm Cavity Slab and
Earthwool CarbonZero.
Knauf Insulation mineral wool products with
ECOSE®
Technology are different because they are made with a
formaldehyde-free binder derived from rapidly renewable materials,
instead of traditional petro-based chemicals used in other
insulation. The patented technology is up
to 70 per cent less energy intensive than traditional binders and
produces a ‘super-soft’ and easier to handle mineral wool, in a
completely natural brown colour.
Knauf Insulation will be showcasing its
Room-in-Roof Roll, designed specifically for warm pitched roofs at
rafter level, it combines excellent thermal and acoustic
performance with a swift installation process. The foil facing on
Room-in-Roof Roll is wider than the insulation, enabling it to be
stapled to the rafters to create a vapour control layer.
For cold pitched roofs at ceiling level, Knauf
Insulation will be promoting the benefits of Earthwool CarbonZero,
the first ‘carbon neutral’ loft insulation available in the UK and
Ireland. To offset the carbon emitted during manufacture,
financial support is provided for carbon reduction initiatives such
as renewable energy and reforestation.
Attendees will also be able to find out more
about DriTherm Cavity Slab, which brings into focus the advantages
offered by full-fill insulation. The product is a semi-rigid
slab of non-combustible glass mineral wool, which is 455mm wide to
suit standard vertical wall tie spacing’s to ensure a closed joint
with adjacent slabs. This results in less airspaces on the warm
side of the insulation and prevents heat loss through gaps - a
problem often associated with rigid foam board alternatives.
