Knauf Insulation, the UK’s leading
supplier of insulation products, has launched a new, interactive
website. Subject of a complete bottom-up redesign, the website
follows Knauf Insulation’s familiar ‘house-style’ and is designed
to be an essential desktop tool for anyone involved with either
specifying or using insulation. The site,
www.knaufinsulation.co.uk, has a host of new features with many
more planned for the next 12 months.
Before creating their current range of literature, Knauf
Insulation’s marketing team asked their customers what they wanted.
The result saw a total departure from the previous range in terms
of format and style; becoming much more dynamic, focussed and
easier to use. So, spurred by this success, it’s not surprising
that the new website follows the same thinking and is equally as
radical.
The website’s pedigree is clear. Its branding, format and style,
the ‘sectored’ structure, the icons and terminology all reflect
that of the literature. Although users familiar with the literature
will feel quite at home on the site, it’s much more than just an
online brochure – it’s designed to be used as an interactive tool
and as an essential source of reference for anyone involved with
insulation.
The six sectors – Building & Construction, HVAC, Industrial,
Marine, Refrigerated Transport and Fabricated & Domestic – make
navigation easy and intuitive. Finding subject-relevant information
is much quicker and, having found it, it’s far easier to use. The
site contains a wealth of information including, of course, Knauf
Insulation’s ever-expanding library of literature which is now
available in two formats. “The site is much more than a collection
of PDFs and images.” explained Mark Taylor, Knauf Insulation’s
Database and Electronic Marketing Manager, adding, “Wherever
possible we’ve used HTML and this gives users some important
benefits. Firstly, it overcomes the need to have any external
plug-ins and this means that the pages load much faster. In
addition, and using the site’s inbuilt search engine, most of the
site becomes searchable and this helps users find more information.
And, when they’ve found it, it then allows them to copy it straight
into their own documents. But, rest assured; all our printed
literature is still available to download and, as a further option,
hard-copies can now be ordered via the site.”
There’s also a host of new functionality with much more to come.
There’s a look-up facility to find contact details for Knauf
Insulation’s sales team and this handy feature will soon be
extended to being able to search for their stockists and
installers. Literature can be ordered online, CPD training
requested and, if you get stuck with the science behind insulation,
there’s a Glossary of Insulation Terminology to help you.
Other features include an Insulation Academy section (the
forerunner of an online academy), downloadable Standard Details and
Specifications (full Auto-CAD versions of Robust Details will be
available soon) and, shortly, an all new ‘Ireland specific’
section.
“The success of the literature meant that simply updating the
existing website wasn’t an option,” continued Mark Taylor. “We took
a long hard look at what we wanted to provide – and why – and knew
that it had to be a completely new site. We’re very pleased with it
and believe it’s going to be an invaluable tool for those in the
industry – but don’t take my word for it, please take a look
yourself! It’s at: www.knaufinsulation.co.uk“
