Following a multimillion-pound investment, Knauf Insulation has
rebranded its versatile Rocksil® Rock Mineral Wool range of
insulation products. The new brand, Rocksilk® Rock Mineral Wool
Insulation, builds on the success of its predecessor, offering
improvements throughout the line-up with exciting new products and
a new packaging and delivery system. Rock mineral wool has never
sounded so good – “Rock solid performance, silk smooth result” –
what a difference a ‘k’ makes!
The recent investment at Knauf Insulation’s rock mineral wool
production facility at Queensferry in North Wales was a major one.
All parts of the production line have been either replaced or
upgraded, allowing capacity to increase to 33,000 tonnes per year,
significant advances in material and product development and the
introduction of some exciting new products.
New, state-of-the-art fiberisation equipment at the ‘hot end’ of
the process has enabled very high quality fibres to be produced,
enhancing the material’s qualities, improving its look and feel and
resulting in new products such as Rocksilk® Flexible Slab.
Equipment using KrimpactTM Technology, an advanced manufacturing
technique that aligns the fibres formed during manufacture, has
also been installed. This has lead to the creation of new,
high-strength, impact resistant materials with uniform density and
consistent performance characteristics: two shining examples of the
new products now available being Rocksilk® KrimpactTM Flat Roof
Slabs and Rocksilk® KrimpactTM Facade Slab.
Following its successful launch with Crown® Glass Mineral Wool
products last year, Knauf Insulation’s compression packaging and
Supakube® unitised delivery system have also been installed at
Queensferry. Individual products are lightly compressed into
durable polypropylene sleeves – giving up to 30% more product per
pack – before being palletised and stretch-wrapped on
non-returnable pallets. The popular Supakube® system provides
significant benefits throughout the supply chain: more product per
delivery; loading, unloading and handling is more efficient; less
storage space is required and, being weatherproof, Supakubes® can
be stored outside – all of which add up to less handling and
storage costs. The stock management system has also benefited and
now allows mixed rock and glass mineral wool orders to be placed
and urgent orders to be fulfilled within 24 hours.
To support the range of Rocksilk® Insulation products, Knauf
Insulation has produced a new brochure giving an overview of rock
mineral wool, its benefits and uses. Rock mineral wool is a
versatile insulation material, justifiably well known for having
excellent thermal, acoustic and fire insulation properties. Product
specific brochures and datasheets are available via Knauf
Insulation’s enquiries hotline or website. The company’s dedicated
Specification Sales Teams are active in the market to provide
advice and marketing support to specifiers, distributors and users
and the Technical Advisory Centre is, as always, on hand to answer
technical questions about the product and its application.
As the manufacturer and supplier of three types of insulation
material – Rocksilk® Rock Mineral Wool Insulation, Crown® Glass
Mineral Wool Insulation and Polyfoam® Extruded Polystyrene (XPS)
