KNAUF INSULATION AND BOB THE BUILDER ‘FIX IT’ FOR VIEWFORTH - 26.7.10

Knauf Insulation, in conjunction with Bob the Builder,
has provided Viewforth Nursery in Fife an energy efficient
renovation worth up to £15,000. To enable Viewforth to meet current
Government targets for insulation levels, the nursery school won
cavity wall and loft insulation, along with solar panels with an
educational display panel showing the building’s energy
usage.
First launched in February 2008 by HIT
Entertainment, one of the world’s leading independent children’s
entertainment producers, and led by the popular children’s
character Bob the Builder™, Project: Renovate encourages nursery
children to learn about the benefits of being ‘green’.
As part of the initiative, nurseries are also
given the chance to win one of three energy efficient renovations,
which are supported by competition partner Knauf Insulation and
installed by Mark Group.
Over 18,000 nurseries were invited to take
part in the competition and out of the hundreds of entries,
Viewforth Nursery in Fife was judged as one of the winners by an
esteemed panel which included Catherine O’Dolan, editor of Junior
Magazine and Jackie Harding, founder of TV4Parents.
Housed in a traditional building in Leven,
Viewforth Nursery submitted its property’s design drawings as part
of their submission in order to demonstrate why its energy
consumption was particularly high.
Angela Welsh from Viewforth Nursery comments:
“This award means so much to Viewforth Nursery so many thanks to
Knauf Insulation and Bob the Builder. Our prize of loft and cavity
wall insulation and solar panels will help us to save even more
energy than before. Bob’s certainly fixed it for us!”
Lydia Sharples, head of communications at
Knauf Insulation, concludes: “At Knauf Insulation we are
committed to energy efficiency and Project: Renovate has been a
great way of helping us to reach more people with our important
message. It introduces children to the elementary principles of
‘saving energy’ at home in a simple, fun way. By reaching out to
nursery children, we’re helping the younger generation to grow up
with a good understanding of how they can do their bit for the
environment too.”
