mission to save his first football club from extinction. The
footballer turned film star’s bid to save the Bedmond Sports and
Social Club was one of the tough challenges faced by celebrities in
ITV1’s recent prime time series, With a Little Help From My
Friends. Knauf Insulation supplied Polyfoam® Floorboard, Polyfoam®
Roofboard and Polyfoam® Raftersqueeze for the floors and ceilings
of the project, and Crown® DriTherm® Cavity Slab for the walls.
Vinnie – with rather a lot of help from his friends – succeeded,
lock, stock and barrel…
Watching a celebrity take on a tough challenge always makes good
entertainment and With a Little Help From My Friends, one of ITV1’s
flagship, factual entertainment programmes, is no exception. With
only their old school friends to help them and just five days to
complete the challenge, it’s tough going and makes nail biting
viewing. Their success will change the lives of a group of people
who really do need a helping hand – failure is not an option!
The recently screened second series featured footballer turned film
star, Vinnie Jones, whose goal was to save the first football club
he played for, Bedmond Sports and Social Club in Hertfordshire,
from closure. The club’s dilapidated facilities meant the senior
football team faced relegation from the Hertfordshire County League
which would put the future of the entire club at risk. Vinnie’s
challenge was awesome. The changing rooms had to be enlarged and
completely refurbished; the club bar needed total renovation; a new
covered, supporters’ stand had to be built and railed pathways
built alongside the pitch.

As those who saw the show will know, despite many trials and
tribulations, Vinnie, with a lot of help from his friends, made it
