KNAUF INSULATION RAISES OVER £700 FOR MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT - 26.10.11
Employees at Knauf Insulation’s St Helens plant have raised over
£700 for Macmillan Cancer Support following a series of fundraising
activities at the plant last week.
The UK’s leading insulation manufacturer hosted a coffee morning
for its 270 staff last Friday (21 October) as well as organising a
bake sale, dress down day and raffle.
Deborah Monk, Health Trainer from St Helens Council’s Health
Improvement Team and Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Trust
also paid a visit to the insulation manufacturer to provide staff
with information and advice about health and cancer
awareness.
Lydia Sharples. Head of Communications, Knauf Insulation, said:
“Macmillan Cancer Support helps to fund essential treatment and
support to those affected by cancer. The disease affects
around 309,500* people every year in the UK, however the earlier it
is spotted, the higher the chances of being cured. We wanted
to not only raise funds to support the great work that Macmillan
does, but to use the day as an opportunity to educate our employees
about the disease.”
Founded in 1911 by Douglas Macmillan, Macmillan Cancer Support
has become the UK’s largest cancer care and support charity,
offering practical, medical and financial help to all patients
diagnosed with cancer.
Knauf Insulation is one of the world’s largest and fastest growing
insulation companies and the UK’s leading manufacturer of
insulation products. It is renowned for its strong environmental
credentials and having the widest range of product for thermal,
acoustic and fire protection applications.
