Knauf Insulations Energy Efficient Systems - 16.2.10

Knauf Insulation will have a large presence at this
year’s Ecobuild exhibition as it showcases its wide range of
insulation solutions for both the residential and commercial
markets. Visitors to stand 2245 will benefit from the
company’s technical expertise and be able to find out more on Knauf
Insulation’s latest innovations, which are helping to deliver
sustainable design.
In 2009 Knauf Insulation revolutionised
mineral wool insulation manufacture and visitors will be able to
experience Knauf Insulation’s new, pioneering, ‘brown’, mineral
wool products that have less embodied energy than their
traditionally manufactured mineral wool products and superior
environmental sustainability, due to patented ECOSE®
Technology. Knauf Insulation mineral wool products with
ECOSE® Technology benefit from a revolutionary, new,
formaldehyde free binder technology, based on rapidly renewable
materials instead of petro-based chemicals. ECOSE®
Technology enhances the product’s environmental credentials without
affecting the thermal, acoustic or fire
performance.
The ECOSE ® Technology binder is up
to 70 per cent less energy intensive than traditional oil based
binders. With Knauf Insulation mineral wool products containing
high recycled and renewable content, this contributes to an already
superior performance when it comes to embodied energy. Insulation
products made with ECOSE ® Technology contain no added
dyes and artificial colours – the colour is completely natural.
ECOSE® Technology is just one of
the examples of Knauf Insulation’s dedication to improving its
manufacturing processes. Supakube® packaging an
innovative compression packaging system, developed by Knauf
Insulation, which reduces transport and warehouse costs, and
encapsulated products such as Space Blanket, which were developed
for easier handling and installation, will also be displayed.
What’s more, visitors can learn more about
sustainability, recycling and legislation and Knauf Insulation
experts will be on hand to provide valuable advice and solutions to
specifiers and contractors alike. Thereby helping them to
understand how insulation and practical systems can contribute to a
greener environment and comply with Government legislation, such as
the changes to Approved Document L1A.
“We constantly strive to meet the needs of our
customers in providing a wide range of insulation solutions to suit
any design application,” comments Lydia Sharples, Head of
Communications, Northern Europe at Knauf Insulation.
“Ecobuild will provide us with the platform to demonstrate our new
IWI system and comprehensive solutions that will not only help to
contribute to a greener and more sustainable environment, but that
also comply with legislation and the forthcoming changes to the
Building Regulations.”
