LEADING INDUSTRY FIGURE RETIRES AFTER FOUR DECADES OF SERVICE - 2.6.11

A well-known face within the insulation manufacturing industry
for almost four decades, Adrian Bold is retiring from his role as
Technical Director at Knauf Insulation.
With more than 37 years service within the business under his
belt, Adrian’s expert knowledge of insulation processes, products
and technology has made considerable contributions towards the
development of the organisation.
Adrian first joined Knauf Insulation under its previous guise of
Pilkington Glass in 1973, where he started work as a glass
carrier. He quickly moved into the Insulation R&D team
and by 1984 he was manager of the Insulation Physics Laboratory,
during which time he was awarded a degree in Applied Physics.
In the late 1980s, Adrian relocated to South Wales where he took
up the role of Technical and Engineering Manger at the Cwmbran
manufacturing plant, before returning to the St Helens headquarters
in 1995 to undertake the roles of Technical Project Leader and then
International Environmental Leader.
In 1999 he was made the Manager of the Cwmbran insulation
manufacturing plant and then, in 2001 was appointed UK Technical
Director. Following the acquisition of the business by Knauf
Insulation, he became Process Systems and Regulatory Affairs
Director for the growing European business and served on the Eurima
Technical and Environmental Committees. In 2008 he joined the
Knauf Insulation Northern European team as Technical Director,
again having a significant role in the UK Trade Association
MIMA
John Sinfield, managing director – Northern Europe at Knauf
Insulation, said: “Adrian has made an enormous contribution both to
Knauf Insulation and to the industry as a whole and he will be
greatly missed. I wish him well for a long and happy
retirement.”
Adrian said: “I have been fortunate to have worked my whole
career in an industry which makes such a huge contribution to
economic and environmental well-being and to have made such good
friends and colleagues on the way. My thanks to John Sinfield
and the team at Knauf Insulation for a very happy cooperation in
recent years – and a great send off! ”
