Knauf Insulation has launched a new
Health Sector Guide, which provides designers of
healthcare projects with detailed information on meeting the
regulatory requirements relating to the specification of
insulation, including energy performance
criteria.
The guide focuses on thermal, acoustic and
fire protection insulation solutions for the constructional
elements and service systems of new and refurbished
hospitals. As the only UK based manufacturer offering all
types of insulation, Knauf Insulation is able to provide impartial
advice, based on the differing properties of the alternative
products.
From flat and pitched roofs to external
masonry walls, the guide sets out the current and future
regulations, specific to health sector buildings, and recommends
system solutions in order to achieve the required performance
standards.
Fire performance is a particularly key area due to the
vulnerability of hospital inhabitants and the guide provides a
detailed explanation of the specific solutions that enhance a
building’s fire protection. In addition, the specific
insulation requirements for acoustic effectiveness that are in line
with the HTM standards are set out, covering the design
characteristics for rain noise, reverberation, airborne sound
transfer and impact sound reduction of noise generated by movement
between various rooms, wards, and corridors within a hospital.
