Modern Brown Insulation
with ECOSE® Technology
|
Traditionally, mineral wool insulation (often called fibreglass
insulation) has been yellow (for glass mineral wool) or greeny/grey
(for rock mineral wool insulation). The colour of each comes mainly
from the binder that is used to hold the fibres together.
However, Knauf Insulation has recently changed the manufacture
of all its mineral wool products to use ECOSE®
Technology. This technology produces a brown insulation because the
binder is based on rapidly renewable materials and
is free from formaldehyde, phenols, acrylics and has no
artificial colours, bleach or dyes added.
So insulation made with ECOSE®
Technology is more sustainable as:
- they have the added benefit of using a binder, which is up to
70% less energy intensive than traditional
binders. With ECOSE® Technology, rapidly-renewable
bio-based materials replace the traditional chemicals
- manufacturing emissions are reduced
- since there is no formaldehyde or phenol used with
ECOSE® Technology, it contributes to improved
indoor air quality of buildings.
So as we say, we didn't choose brown, it just came
naturally...
