Description
Crown Acoustic Party Wall Slab is a foil-faced semi-rigid
non-combustible, glass mineral wool slab with a water repellent
additive. They are 455mm wide to suit standard vertical wall tie
spacings, ensuring a closed joint with adjacent slabs.
Application
Crown Acoustic Party Wall Slab has been developed as an acoustic
insulant in masonry party walls aimed at removing the need for a
wet-applied parge coat. The normal internal lining of plasterboard
on dabs, applied directly to the bare block face is then the
internal finish.
Crown Acoustic Party Wall Slabs are installed partially filling
the cavity in the separating wall. The slabs are held in place with
retaining discs in the same manner as a partially filled external
cavity wall.
They must be installed with the foil facing the minimum residual
40mm cavity with the slabs tightly butted together. The junction of
the party wall cavity and external wall cavity must be closed to
prevent flanking sound transmission. This is usually achieved by
installing Crown DriTherm Cavity Slab or Crown Cavity Barriers.
Normal practice is to continue the installation of the Crown
Acoustic Party Wall Slab to the full height of the separating wall
up to the underside of the roof.
Standards
Crown Acoustic Party Wall Slabs are noncombustible inorganic
glass wool, defined as mineral wool in BS 3533: 1981 and are
manufactured in accordance with BSI Quality Assurance Standard BS
EN ISO 9001. 2000.
Durability
Crown Acoustic Party Wall Slab is odourless, rot proof,
non-hygroscopic, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the
growth of fungi, mould or bacteria.
