Acoustic Floor
Roll
Improves the sound insulation of concrete floors - Remedial
treatment of existing timber floors
Description
Acoustic Floor Roll is a resilient, glass mineral wool roll
faced on one side with a kraft paper/polythene laminate. Its facing
has a 75mm overlap along one edge to lap the edge of the adjoining
roll.
Application
Acoustic Floor Roll is used for improving the impact sound
resistance of separating floors, specifically Type 2 separating
floors in Approved Document E.
The kraft paper/polythene laminate should face uppermost when
Acoustic Floor Roll forms a resilient layer below a screed.
Standards
The mineral wool of Acoustic Floor Roll is a non-combustible,
inorganic glass wool, defined as mineral wool in BS 3533: 1981 and
is manufactured in accordance with BSI Quality Assurance Standard
BS EN ISO 9001: 2000.

Durability
The mineral wool of Acoustic Floor Roll is odourless, rot proof,
nonhygroscopic, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the
growth of fungi, mould or bacteria.
Fire Performance
The base glass mineral wool of Acoustic Floor Roll is classified
as non-combustible to BS 476: Part 4: 1970 (1984).
Acoustic Performance
Acoustic Floor Roll meets the specification for a resilient
layer in a Type 2 floor construction as recommended in Approved
Document E 2003 of the Building Regulations, for separating
floors.
Used with the appropriate ceiling and floor surface treatments,
and a structural deck of the appropriate mass, this system has the
potential to provide the impact and airbourne sound insulation
requirements of Part E.
Post completion testing is still normally required to
demonstrate compliance. The acoustic performance depends on the mass
of the concrete, which needs to be at least 300
kg/m2.
- Excellent impact sound resistance
- Overlapping facing layer prevents wet screed from entering
mineral wool layer

ECOSE® Technology
|
Knauf Insulation mineral wool products with ECOSE® Technology benefit from a revolutionary, bio-based, formaldehyde-free binder technology, based on rapidly renewable materials, instead of petro-based chemicals. It reduces embodied energy and delivers superior environmental sustainability.
The technology has been developed for Knauf Insulation’s glass and rock mineral wool products, enhancing their environmental credentials without affecting the thermal, acoustic or fire performance. Insulation products made with ECOSE® Technology contain no dye or artificial colours – the colour is completely natural.
|
Acoustic Floor Roll is free from CFCs, HCFCs and any other
material with ozone depletion potential in its manufacture and
content and represents no known threat to the environment.
Acoustic Floor Roll’s
manufacture has a low impact on the environment and is classified
as Zero ODP and Zero GWP.
Handling and Storage
Acoustic Floor Roll is easy to handle and install, being
lightweight and easily cut to size.
It is supplied enclosed in polythene which is designed for short
term protection only. For longer term protection on site, the
product should either be stored indoors, or under cover and off the
ground.
Installation instructions are on every pack. Acoustic Floor Roll
should not be left permanently exposed to the elements.
