Earthwool® Acoustic Roll
For timber joist floors, plasterboard
partitions and timber separating walls and floors
Description
Earthwool Acoustic Roll is a flexible glass mineral wool quilt
which is lightweight, flexible, resilient and non-combustible. The
rolls are 1200mm wide and ready cut to produce 3 rolls 400mm wide
or 2 rolls 600mm wide.
Earthwool Acoustic Roll is manufactured to a minimum
density of 10kg/m3.
Application
Earthwool Acoustic Roll is specifically designed for friction
fitting between members at 400mm and 600mm centres to improve the
sound insulation of:
- separating walls
- separating floors
- internal floors
- timber and metal stud partitions
Earthwool Acoustic Roll is specifically designed for friction
fitting between resilient timber battens and timber studs in robust
detail separating floors and walls and between timber and metal
studs in lightweight plasterboard partitions. Earthwool Acoustic
Roll provides a high level of sound absorption, whilst also
improving the thermal and fire performance of the floor or
partition.
Using mineral wool as a sound absorbent layer in partitions and
floors significantly improves their acoustic performance, whilst
only adding minimally to the overall mass of the structure. In
partitions glass mineral wool complements the plasterboard by
absorbing airborne sound in the cavity and reducing reverberation,
It Is particularly effective at preventing the hollow sound that
can occur in partitions with unfilled cavities.
Fire Performance
Earthwool Acoustic Roll is classified
as Euroclass A1 to BS EN ISO 13501-1.
Acoustic Performance
Earthwool Acoustic Roll has
exceptional acoustic absorption properties.
- Excellent sound absorption properties
- Lightweight, and easy to install
- Dimensioned to suit studs and joists at 400mm or 600mm
centres
- Long roll lengths for quick and economic Installation
- Friction fits between studs, ensuring continuity of the
absorbent layer with no air gaps
Standards
Earthwool Acoustic Roll is non-combustible glass mineral wool,
defined as mineral wool in BS 3533: 1981 and is manufactured in
accordance with BSI Quality Assurance Standard BS EN ISO 9001:
2000.
Durability
Earthwool Acoustic Roll is odourless, rot proof,
non-hygroscopic, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the
growth of fungi, mould or bacteria.

ECOSE® Technology
|
Knauf Insulation mineral wool products with ECOSE® Technology benefit from a revolutionary, bio-based, formaldehyde-free binder technology, based on rapidly renewable materials, instead of petro-based chemicals. It reduces embodied energy and delivers superior environmental sustainability.
The technology has been developed for Knauf Insulation’s glass and rock mineral wool products, enhancing their environmental credentials without affecting the thermal, acoustic or fire performance. Insulation products made with ECOSE® Technology contain no dye or artificial colours – the colour is completely natural.
|
Earthwool Acoustic Roll is free from CFCs, HCFCs and any other
material with ozone depletion potential in its manufacture and
content and represents no known threat to the environment.
Earthwool Acoustic Roll’s
manufacture has a low impact on the environment and is classified
as Zero ODP and Zero GWP.
Handling and Storage
Earthwool Acoustic Roll is easy to handle and install, being
lightweight and easily cut to size, where necessary. It is supplied
enclosed in polythene which is designed for short term protection
