GlassFrameTherm Roll

For the thermal and acoustic insulation of external and separating walls in timber frame and ‘warm roof’ construction.

Description

FrameTherm Roll consists of a resilient, unfaced, non-combustible glass mineral wool quilt.

  • FrameTherm Roll 40 has a thermal conductivity of 0.040 W/mK.
  • FrameTherm Roll 35 has a thermal conductivity of 0.035 W/mK.
  • FrameTherm Roll 32 has a thermal conductivity of 0.032 W/mK.

Application

FrameTherm Roll is for the thermal insulation of external walls and warm roofs in timber frame construction. FrameTherm Roll is friction fitted between studs and rafters and are 570mm wide to suit commonly used stud and rafter spacings.

FrameTherm Roll can also be used for acoustic insulation in timber framed separating walls.

Standards

FrameTherm Roll is a non-combustible inorganic glass wool, defined as mineral wool in BS 3533: 1981 and are manufactured in accordance with BSI Quality Assurance Standard BS EN ISO 9001: 2000

Vapour resistance and condensation

FrameTherm Roll allows water vapour to pass freely through the insulation, therefore allowing the construction element to breathe.

Durability

FrameTherm Roll is rot proof, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria. FrameTherm Roll is odourless and non-hygroscopic.

FrameTherm Roll
Performance

Thermal

FrameTherm Roll comes in three thermal conductivities - 0.032, 0.035 and 0.040 W/mK.

Fire

FrameTherm Roll is classified as Euroclass A1 to BS EN ISO 13501-1.

Acoustics

FrameTherm Roll has excellent sound absorption characteristics.

Benefits
  • Two thermal performances
  • Sized to friction fit between studs at 600mm centres
  • Easy to handle and install with no gaps between adjacent rolls

Environmental

ECOSE® Technology
ECOSE® Technology Logo
Knauf Insulation mineral wool products with ECOSE® Technology benefit from a revolutionary, bio-based, formaldehyde-free binder technology, based on rapidly renewable materials, instead of petro-based chemicals. It reduces embodied energy and delivers superior environmental sustainability.

The technology has been developed for Knauf Insulation’s glass and rock mineral wool products, enhancing their environmental credentials without affecting the thermal, acoustic or fire performance. Insulation products made with ECOSE® Technology contain no dye or artificial colours – the colour is completely natural.

FrameTherm Roll is free from CFCs, HCFCs and any other material with ozone depletion potential in their manufacture and content and represents no known threat to the environment.

FrameTherm Roll's manufacture has a low impact on the environment and is classified as Zero ODP and Zero GWP.

Handling and Storage

FrameTherm Roll is easy to handle and install, being lightweight and easily cut to size.

It is supplied in polythene packs which are designed for short term protection only. For longer term protection on site, the product should either be stored indoors, or under cover and off the ground. Installation instructions are on every pack.

FrameTherm Roll should not be left permanently exposed to the elements.
