GlassFrameTherm Slabs

For the thermal and acoustic insulation of external and separating walls in timber frame and ‘warm roof’ construction.

Description

FrameTherm Slab consists of a resilient, unfaced, non-combustible glass mineral wool slab.

  • FrameTherm Slab 38 has a thermal conductivity of 0.038 W/mK
  • FrameTherm Slab 35 has a thermal conductivity of 0.035 W/mK
  • FrameTherm Slab 32 has a thermal conductivity of 0.032 W/mK

Application

FrameTherm Slab is for the thermal insulation of external walls and warm roofs in timber frame construction. FrameTherm Slab is friction fitted between studs and rafters and are 570mm wide to suit commonly used stud and rafter spacings.

FrameTherm Slab can also be used for acoustic insulation in timber framed separating walls.

Standards

FrameTherm Slab is non-combustible inorganic glass wool, defined as mineral wool in BS 3533: 1981 and are manufactured in accordance with BSI Quality Assurance Standard BS EN ISO 9001: 2000

Vapour resistance and condensation

FrameTherm Slab allows water vapour to pass freely through the insulation, therefore allowing the construction element to breathe.

Durability

FrameTherm Slab is rot proof, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria. FrameTherm Slab is odourless and non-hygroscopic.

FrameTherm Slab
Performance

Thermal

FrameTherm Slab comes in four thermal conductivities - 0.032, 0.035 and 0.038 W/mK.

Fire

FrameTherm Slab is classified as Euroclass A1 to BS EN ISO 13501-1.

Acoustics

FrameTherm Slab has excellent sound absorption characteristics.

Benefits
  • Available in four thermal conductivities
  • Sized to friction fit between studs at 600mm centres
  • Easy to handle and install with no gaps between adjacent slabs

ECOSE® Technology

ECOSE® Technology Logo

Knauf Insulation mineral wool products with ECOSE® Technology benefit from a revolutionary, bio-based, formaldehyde-free binder technology, based on rapidly renewable materials, instead of petro-based chemicals. It reduces embodied energy and delivers superior environmental sustainability.

The technology has been developed for Knauf Insulation’s glass and rock mineral wool products, enhancing their environmental credentials without affecting the thermal, acoustic or fire performance. Insulation products made with ECOSE® Technology contain no dye or artificial colours – the colour is completely natural.

FrameTherm Slab is free from CFCs, HCFCs and any other material with ozone depletion potential in their manufacture and content and represents no known threat to the environment.

FrameTherm Slab’s manufacture has a low impact on the environment and is classified as Zero ODP and Zero GWP.

Handling and Storage

FrameTherm Slab is easy to handle and install, being lightweight and easily cut to size.

It is supplied in polythene packs which are designed for short term protection only. For longer term protection on site, the product should either be stored indoors, or under cover and off the ground. Installation instructions are on every pack.

FrameTherm Slab should not be left permanently exposed to the elements.
