Polyfoam LogoPolyfoam ®  ECO Roofboards

For the thermal insulation of flat roofs.

Description

Polyfoam ECO Roofboards are available in two grades - Extra and Super. They are rigid extruded polystyrene boards with Zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) and a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of less than five.

They are lightweight square edged or lap jointed boards that have a high compressive strength.

Application

Polyfoam ECO Roofboards are used for the thermal insulation of flat roofs and can be used:

  • in a warm roof construction below single ply membranes
  • in a protected membrane roof below ballast or paving slabs(1)
  • as the insulation layer in a green/garden roof
  • under concrete for a roof top car park

(1) See also the separate Knauf Insulation datasheet on the Polyfoam Slimline membrane (Ref: PD136210).

When used in conjunction with the Polyfoam Slimline membrane as part of the Polyfoam Slimline system, this solution offers industry leading thermal performance and weight reduction in protected membrane roofing systems.

Standards

Polyfoam ECO Roofboards are manufactured in accordance with BS EN 13164:2008, EN 16001:2009 Energy Management Systems, OHSAS 18001:2007 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Systems, and ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems, as certified by Bureau Veritas.

Durability

The continuous service temperature limits of Polyfoam ECO Roofboard are -20 to +70º C.

Polyfoam Roofboard Extra ECO
Performance

Thermal Performance

The thermal conductivity of Polyfoam ECO Roofboard varies between 0.034 and 0.036 W/mK.

Benefits
  • Excellent thermal performance
  • High compressive strength
  • Highly resistant to water absorption
  • Able to resist repeated freeze/thaw cycles
  • Lightweight and easy to install
  • Tough and durable, not easily damaged
  • Dimensional stability

As part of the Polyfoam Slimline System:

  • Improves the thermal performance of protected membrane flat roofs
  • Enables thinner insulation and less ballast to be used with no loss of thermal performance
  • Produces a thermally efficient and lightweight roof

Environmental

Polyfoam ECO Roofboards are manufactured with a GWP<5 and are free from CFCs,HCFCs and any other material with ozone depletion potential in their manufacture and content and represent no known threat to the environment.

Polyfoam ECO Roofboards are non bio-degradable and 100% recyclable.

Compression resistance

Polyfoam ECO Roofboard are highly resistant to compression and withstand both occasional and long term static loads. Load bearing construction elements should be designed to adequately support the combination of imposed and dead loads without creating excessive deflection.

Vapour Resistivity

Polyfoam ECO Roofboards have a water vapour resistivity of 600MNs/g.m.

Moisture absorption

Polyfoam ECO Roofboards have a moisture absorption of 1.1% by volume when tested in accordance with EN 12087.

Moisture resistance

Polyfoam ECO Roofboards can be used above the waterproofing layer and thus exposed to rainwater. The boards are resistant to moisture absorption and can be laid in standing water or up against wet concrete with negligible impact on the performance of the product as determined by testing to EN 12087.

Handling and storage

The boards are easy to handle and special protective clothing is not required when installing them. Polyfoam ECO Roofboards are supplied in four sided packaging designed to be easily recognised and labelled with identifying product and manufacturing data. Ensure the boards are not stored close to open flames or other ignition sources and avoid volatile organic compounds and chemicals such as solvents.

Polyfoam ECO Roofboards should not be left exposed to prolonged sunlight as this will result in surface degradation. When outside storage for extended periods is required cover the products with opaque/light coloured sheeting.
