Polyfoam Soffit Linerboard

For the thermal insulation and lining of soffits below exposed upper floors

Description

Polyfoam Soffit Linerboard is a laminate of Polyfoam, high performance extruded polystyrene insulation and a tough, weather resistant fibre reinforced cement facing board. Polyfoam Soffit Linerboard is square edged.

Application

Polyfoam Soffit Linerboard is for the thermal insulation and lining of soffits below exposed upper floors. The boards are 2400 x 1200mm for maximum coverage per sheet.

Polyfoam extruded polystyrene insulation has excellent thermal performance, is lightweight and has high compression resistance to ensure a smooth solid finish can be easily achieved.

Polyfoam Soffit Linerboard is usually fixed directly to the structure using a suitable mechanical fixing.

Standards

Polyfoam Soffit Linerboard is manufactured in accordance with BSI Quality Assurance Standard BS EN ISO 9001: 2000.

Environmental

Polyfoam Soffit Linerboard is free from CFCs, HCFCs and any other material with ozone depletion potential in its manufacture and content and represents no known threat to the environment. Polyfoam Soffit Linerboard is non bio-degradable.

Polyfoam Soffit Linerboard is 100% recyclable.

Fire Performance

Polyfoam insulation contains a flame retardant which inhibits localised ignition. Polyfoam Soffit Linerboard is faced with a 6mm fibre reinforced cement board which offers excellent fire performance as a facing material and is classified as Class 1 Surface Spread of Flame to BS 476: Part 7: 1987.

Moisture Resistance

The moisture resistance of Polyfoam Soffit Linerboard allows it to be installed in damp areas or during moist conditions with minimal impact on the performance of the insulation. Polyfoam Soffit Linerboard has a moisture resistant facing which makes the product suitable for exterior, long term exposure applications.

Compression Resistance

Polyfoam insulation is rigid and highly resistance to compression.

The facing material is highly resistant to impact damage, offering an excellent robust finish.

Handling and Storage

The boards are easy to handle and nonirritant, when cutting through the facing material it is advisable to wear a facemask to guard against dust. No special protective clothing is required.

Polyfoam Soffit Linerboards are supplied on non-returnable wooden pallets, labelled with identifying product and manufacturing data. They should be wrapped in a polythene shroud for temporary protection during transit and on site.

Ensure the boards are not stored close to open flame or other ignition source, also avoid volatile compounds and chemicals such as solvents.

Polyfoam products should not be left exposed to prolonged sunlight as this will result in surface degradation. Where outside storage for extended periods is required cover with opaque/light coloured sheeting.

The facing board on Polyfoam Soffit Linerboard should have edges and corners protected to prevent chipping.
