Polyfoam Supadeck
For the provision of thermal insulation and
decking for storage in the loft spaces of pitched roofs
Description
Polyfoam Supadeck Total is a laminate of
Polyfoam high performance, 100% ozone friendly, extruded
polystyrene, rigid insulation board and a tough, moisture resistant
chipboard.
The chipboard is P5 flooring grade and is tongue and grooved on
all four edges.
Polyfoam Supadeck Uni is a high performance,
100% ozone friendly, extruded polystyrene, rigid insulation board,
produced 480 x 1200mm to coordinate with standard chipboard loft
boards.
Polyfoam Supadeck Duo is a double thickness of
Polyfoam Supadeck Uni.
Application
Polyfoam Supadeck Total has been specifically designed and
developed to provide thermal insulation and decking for storage in
the loft spaces of pitched roofs. Polyfoam Supadeck Total laid over
ceiling joists with 100mm Crown Loft Roll between, will achieve a
U-value of 0.16 W/m2K.
Polyfoam Supadeck Uni and Duo provide a loft decking system,
providing a stable surface for standard chipboard loft boards,
enabling the creation of a loft storage deck, whilst insulating at
the same time.
Polyfoam Supadeck Uni and Duo give the refurbishment user the
option to use one later (Uni) or two layers (Duo) of insulation.
Two layers will achieve a U-value of 0.16 W/m2K in the
same manner as Polyfoam Supadeck Total.
Standards
Polyfoam Supadeck Total and Supadeck Uni/Duo are manufactured in
accordance with BSI Quality Assurance Standard BS EN ISO 9001:
2000.
Thermal Performance
The Polyfoam insulation in Polyfoam Supadeck has a thermal
conductivity of 0.029 W/mK.
The chipboard in Polyfoam Supadeck Total has a thermal
conductivity of 0.13 W/mK.

Environmental
Polyfoam Supadeck Total and Supadeck Uni/Duo are free from CFCs,
HCFCs and any other material with ozone depletion potential in
their manufacture and content and represent no known threat to the
environment.
Polyfoam Supadeck Total and Supadeck Uni/Duo are 100%
recyclable.
Compression resistance
Polyfoam Supadeck is highly resistant to compression and
withstands the long term static loads imparted by loft storage.
Polyfoam Supadeck is capable of withstanding the applied point
loading of the ceiling joists when loaded with storage items.
Moreover, the chipboard in Polyfoam Supadeck Total is a high
strength chipboard capable of withstanding the expected loads.
Warning: Polyfoam Supadeck Uni/Duo should not be walked on, they
are not designed to support a persons weight, unless covered by a
chipboard loft board.
Note that ceiling joists are not designed to take a
floor load, care must be taken to ensure the load imparted on the
ceiling is not excessive. If you are in any doubt as to the
condition and strength of the ceiling joists seek professional
advice.
Moisture resistance
Polyfoam Supadeck is in a cold roof space, but below the
waterproofing, if any moisture is present, the insulation board is
highly resistant to moisture absorption.
The chipboard facing material in Polyfoam Supadeck Total is a
moisture resistant grade chipboard.
Fire Performance
Polyfoam Supadeck Total and Supadeck Uni/Duo contain a fire
retardant additive. When installed in a roof construction they will
not contribute to the development stages of a fire.
Compatibility with other materials
PVC insulated electrical cables should not be allowed to come
into direct contact with the insulation in Polyfoam Supadeck Total
and Supadeck Uni/Duo. Cables can simply be relocated so they lay on
top of the finished chipboard deck.
Handling and storage
The boards are easy to handle and nonirritant, no special
protective clothing is required when installing them. The boards
are sized to be able to pass through standard sized loft
hatches.
Polyfoam Supadeck Total and Supadeck Uni/Duo are supplied on
pallets, labelled with identifying product and manufacturing
data.
Ensure they are not stored close to open flame or other ignition
source, also avoid volatile compounds and chemicals such as
solvents.
Polyfoam products should not be left exposed to prolonged
sunlight as this will result in surface degradation. Where outside
storage for extended periods is required cover with opaque/light
coloured sheeting.
