Description

Rocksilk FireTech Slab is a high density rock mineral wool slab. It is available unfaced or faced with a Bright Class ‘O’ reinforced aluminium foil. Unfaced product can receive decorative renders or plaster without further preparation. It is also available tissue faced, subject to enquiry.

Rocksilk FireTech Dry Fix Noggin Slab is a high density, easy to cut, rock mineral wool slab for use in the FireTech Dry Fix system.

Application

Rocksilk FireTech Slab can be used to provide up to 4 hours fire protection to structural steel and cast iron columns, beams and trusses. Foil faced slabs are suitable for use above clean rooms, within air plenums, or for aesthetic purposes.

Rocksilk Firetech Slab can be used with four types of fixing systems for the fire protection of structural steelwork. They are:

  • Dry Fix System
  • Noggin Fixing System
  • Combination Fixing System
  • Welded Pin Fixing System

Rocksilk FireTech Dry Fix Noggin Slab is used in the FireTech Dry Fix system providing up to 2 hours fire protection of structural steel work.

Standards

Rocksilk FireTech Slab and Rocksilk FireTech Dry Fix Noggin Slab are made from non-combustible, inorganic rock wool, defined as mineral wool in BS 3533: 1981 and are manufactured to a Quality Assurance system which complies with BS EN ISO 9001:2000.

Performance

Fire Performance

Rocksilk FireTech Slab and Rocksilk FireTech Dry Fix Noggin Slab are classified as non-combustible to BS 476: Part 4: 1970 (1984) and  Class 1 Surface Spread of Flame to BS 476: Part 7 1997 and Class ‘O’ to the Building Regulations.

Durability

Rocksilk FireTech Slab and Rocksilk FireTech Dry Fix Noggin Slab are odourless, non-hygroscopic, rot proof, do not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria.

Rocksilk FireTech Slab and Rocksilk FireTech Dry Fix Noggin Slab are non-wicking when tested to BS 2972:1989: Section 12.

Environmental

Rocksilk FireTech Slab and Rocksilk FireTech Dry Fix Noggin Slab are free from CFCs, HCFCs and any other material with ozone depletion potential in their manufacture and content and represent no known threat to the environment.

Rocksilk FireTech Slab and Rocksilk FireTech Dry Fix Noggin Slab’s manufacture has a low impact on the environment and is classified as Zero ODP and Zero GWP.

Moisture Resistance

When exposed to 90% humidity and 20°C, Rocksilk FireTech Slab and Rocksilk FireTech Dry Fix Noggin Slab absorb less than 0.004% of moisture.

Handling and Storage

Rocksilk FireTech Slab and Rocksilk FireTech Dry Fix Noggin Slab are easy to handle and install, being lightweight and easily cut to size.

Rocksilk FireTech Slab and Rocksilk FireTech Dry Fix Noggin Slab are supplied stretch wrapped on pallets and which is designed for short term protection only. For longer term protection on site, the product should  be stored either indoors, or under cover and off the ground.

Rocksilk FireTech Slab and Rocksilk FireTech Dry Fix Noggin Slab should not be left permanently exposed to the elements.
