Rocksilk Soffit Linerboard is free from CFCs, HCFCs and any
other material with ozone depletion potential in its manufacture
and content and represents no known threat to the environment.
Rocksilk Soffit
Linerboard’s manufacture has a low impact on the environment and is
classified as Zero ODP and Zero GWP.
Fire Performance
The mineral wool of Rocksilk Soffit Linerboard is classified as
Euroclass A1 BS EN ISO 13501-1.
Rocksilk Soffit Linerboard can be used up to an operating
temperature of 850°C. In the event of fire it will emit negligible
quantities of smoke and fumes. The heat emission from the product
is insignificant.
The cement based facing board is classified as Class 1 Surface
Spread of Flame to BS 476: Part 7: 1987.
Moisture Resistance
Both Rocksilk Soffit Linerboards have moisture resistant facings
which make the product suitable for applications where it will be
installed in exposed or semi exposed environments such as those
associated with open sided car parks.
Handling and Storage
Rocksilk Soffit Linerboards are supplied on non-returnable
wooden pallets wrapped in a polythene hood for temporary protection
during transit and on site.
For longer term outside storage (stock or site) the pallets
should be stored under a secure waterproof covering. If the boards
do get wet allow them to thoroughly dry before installation.
When cutting the facing board on Rocksilk Soffit Linerboard
Extra it is advisable to wear a face mask to guard against dust. No
special protective clothing is required.
Installation
Both Rocksilk Soffit Linerboards are fixed directly to the
structure using a suitable mechanical insulation fixing of types as
recommended for soffit linings by Hilti, Ejot, Fischer or similar
to support a solution of c.18kg/m2. This is typically
six fixings in a 1200 x 600mm sheet, though Knauf Insulation
advises you to seek advice from the specific fixings
manufacturer.
For ease of fixing, the facing board can be pre-drilled at
fixing points prior to horizontal working. At junctions and edges
care should be taken to ensure the insulation is covered with
cement board at all times in the case of Soffit Linerboard Extra;
or a suitable flashing at edges in the case of Soffit Linerboard
Standard.
