A system-tested mineral adhesive and reinforcing mortar

Description

A system-tested mineral adhesive and reinforcing mortar for use with both the Rock Mineral Wool and EPS Knauf External Wall Insulation system as well as direct use to concrete.

Application

Clean down background to remove any dust, dirt or any matter which will impair the bonding of the render, using a high pressure water jet where necessary. Mask all dirt sensitive elements.

Bonding

For hand application apply the ThermoShell (TS)-BOND around the edge of the insulation board with 3 palm size dabs to the centre of the board. The approximate contact coverage should be ≥ 40% once the boards have been pressed into place on the substrate. Approximate thickness of the adhesive coat to be 10mm.

For machine application the above can be followed or alternatively the substrate can be sprayed in a ribbon pattern (≥60% contact area) 80mm spacing between the strips. The insulation slabs/boards are then pressed back into the adhesive and levelled.

Reinforcing

Apply TS-BOND to a thickness of 5-7mm and level out. Whilst the render is still wet embed TS-REINFORCING MESH to the whole surface overlapping the edges by a minimum of 100mm. Press the mesh just below the surface and level off.

Allow one days drying time per mm applied.

Where there is a need to apply 2 layers of TS-REINFORCING MESH for areas that require extra protection or for topcoat finishes of 1mm or below then apply a second layer of TS-BOND 4mm thick and repeat the process of the embedment of the TS-REINFORCING MESH.

For concrete surfaces apply the TS-BOND to a minimum thickness of 10mm and level.

TS-BOND is suitable for application thicknesses up to 15mm for reinforcing and no more than 20mm for bonding.

Do not carry out works if the air or surface temperature is +5ºC and falling.

Wash all equipment and tools immediately after use.

All ThermoShell products should be installed by an approved ThermoShell installer.

Safety at work

Mineral renders exhibit an alkaline reaction upon contact with water and therefore may cause skin irritation or eye damage. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wear eye/face protection In case of contact with the eyes rinse immediately with clean water and seek medical advice.

Environmental

TS-BOND possesses no contents that are ecological hazards and therefore represents no known threat to the environment.

Handling and storage

TS-BOND is supplied in 25kg bags and should be stored In a dry moisture protected environment. Shelf life of 6 months, subject to cool frost free storage.
