This guide describes a range of insulation solutions that
provide housebuilders with effective building constructions for
today’s residential sector, including advice on the Code for
Sustainable Homes and Energy Performance Certification.
The majority of constructions have been widely used and proven
for use in houses, apartments and other residential dwellings. The
solutions in this guide are intended to provide designers and
housebuilders with simple compliance with current Part L1A Building
Regulations while a range of lower U-value solutions show the
options for the new generation of “zero carbon” dwellings.
There is also a brief summary of the thermal and acoustic
requirements of the Building Regulations.

Boasting an easy navigable product selector to highlight the
most appropriate insulation solution for all construction elements,
the Education Sector Guide covers thermal performance and energy
saving requirements for all aspects of insulation specification.
The guide includes comprehensive information on the thermal, fire
and acoustic performance of glass and rock mineral wool and foamed
plastic products.
The requirements of the Energy Performance of Buildings
Directive (EPBD), Building Regulations Approved Document Part L and
Building Bulletins 93 and 100 are all detailed in the guide,
covering insulation for roofs, external walls and floors.
In addition to technical information on the thermal performance
of the different insulation products, the acoustic requirements of
the construction elements along with the non combustible fire
performance requirements for insulation within an education build
programme are explored.

The new Health Sector Guide boasts an easily navigable product
selector to highlight the most appropriate type of insulation for
each part of the building.
The most suitable insulation solutions are highlighted for key
construction details in order to meet energy saving requirements,
promoting the benefits of mineral wool solutions to meet the
acoustic requirements of sound insulation and sound absorption.
The importance of non combustibility and the benefits of
specifying mineral wool to enhance the building's fire protection
are also highlighted, ensuring that architects, specifiers and
contractors will be able to specify the correct insulation solution
for their health sector building.
