Project Specification Manager

Knauf Insulation is looking to recruit a Project Specification Manager. 

In the short-term, due to the current situation with Covid-19, it is envisaged that the role will be primarily home-based, with most customer interaction via platforms such as Skype, Zoom and Teams. However, this
remains a field-based role and therefore is likely to require travel when there is a return towards normal working practices. Therefore it is important that the candidate lives in the territory.

The successful candidate must therefore be flexible and willing to travel, as well as being able to demonstrate the ability to develop strong customer relationships both remotely and in person. It is essential that the role holder holds a valid UK driving licence. This role reports directly to the Head of Construction Projects.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Develop strong relationships within supply chain accounts (SCA’s) by working closely with precontract and design teams, quantity surveyors & project managers by early involvement in both tender and secured projects.
  • Identify, track and secure specifications on key projects.
  • Provide advice to new and existing clients in order to develop a long-term relationship that ensures the continued specification of Knauf Insulation solutions.
  • Negotiate project terms in conjunction with the Head of Construction Projects to maximise Knauf Insulation sales and profit opportunities.
  • Advise on application & system led solutions, to architects, designers, main contractors and
  • subcontractors, etc. to ensure Knauf Insulation products and systems are purchased for use within the correct applications.
  • Provide market knowledge to the commercial team and customer base clients in order to increase their business and so enhance our own.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Knowledge of key contractors, architects, specifiers and routes to market
  • Experience of working in a results-focused sales environment
  • The ability to self-motivate and manage your own workload and diary.
  • Business appreciation / market awareness
  • Demonstrable commercial acumen
  • Product, application and technical knowledge
  • PC literate
  • Usage of CRM system
