Process Development Engineer - Fiberising

­Knauf Insulation is seeking a Process Development Engineer, Fiberising to join the Central Team reporting to the Process Development Manager. The role purpose is to develop new process techniques and technology focused on the glass fiberising area as well as optimization of the existing process & products.

Key tasks & responsibilities

  • Development of the fiberising process to reduce manufacturing costs, improve product quality, increase throughput and improve safety

  • To report the performance of the fiberising process across all GMW plants using appropriate KPIs (e.g. spinner performance)

  • Liaise with internal / external stakeholders to understand the customer requirements & to develop technology / process to accommodate such requests

  • Work in partnership with people from the plant (at all levels) to implement process controls and devise new methods of assessment / control of the production process

  • Provide support on any fiberising and product issues or investigations

  • Produce regular technical and operational reports and deliver presentations to senior management and customers

The ideal candidate will hold a physical science based degree (engineering, math, physics, and materials science).

Excellent problem solving / analytical skills are essential with the ability to communicate at all levels including being able to confidently present information.


Knowledge of statistical software such as Minitab would be desirable as would experience of Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing techniques.  

Candidates must be able to meet deadlines, work under pressure and deal with changing priorities.

This role will involve travel so candidates must be flexible and hold a UK driving licence.
