Cwmbran plant welcomes Coed Eva Primary School tour
We hosted Year Six pupils from Coed Eva Primary School at our Cwmbran plant – after they won a town-wide competition, beating 13 other schools from the local area.
The strong team of 10 and 11-year-olds triumphed in the annual energy efficiency inter-school quiz, which we’ve been sponsoring for more than 20 years and took home the winning prize of a Knauf Insulation plant tour.
The quiz is themed on energy and sustainability, and aims to give young students a better understanding of their environmental impact and show them the efforts being made by responsible brands to halt climate change.
Jean Reardon, education for sustainable development and global citizenship coordinator at Coed Eva Primary School, said: “The pupils worked extremely hard before the quiz and spent a lot of time studying, so it was great to see their efforts pay off.
“They absolutely loved the plant tour. It really brought to life some of the main themes of the quiz, including energy efficiency and sustainability. They also got to see for themselves how insulation is made, how it works and what goes into making it.”
Warren Christy, health, safety, environment and systems manager at our Cwmbran plant, said: “It’s really important to us that we educate the next generation about their environmental footprint from an early age, and the plant tour is a way for us to do that.
“Every year, the winners are always amazed by how the insulation is made, and it’s great to see them so engaged! Well done to all of the children that took part this time round.”
